On Friday 13th December we held our ‘Little Monkeys’ Christmas celebration. This is always a great opportunity to do something a little bit special for all the mums, dads and children who have been with us each Friday throughout the year – and an opportunity to share what Christmas really means to us.
Our team of helpers really got into the Christmas spirit by dressing up as angels and shepherds!!
Many thanks to the whole team, who did a brilliant job; Martin Lee, Stan & Anne Butt, Joan McCoy, Helen Croud, Rachel Bingham, Pete Pearson, John & Naomi Fewins, Mary Lyddon, Tony Rhodes and Garrie Todd.
There was a Christmas craft for the children (and adults) to enjoy and then party food to share. The mums and dads were treated to tea, coffee and mince pies.
One of the really popular parts of our Friday morning sessions is the puppet show. There are lots of aching arms at the end of it but it is thoroughly enjoyed by the children, as they have got to know the puppets and the songs that we sing each week.
For our ‘Nativity’ puppet show we chose a song with a clear gospel message as well as others with a Christmas theme. Flor also had the opportunity to speak to all of the parents and children about one of Jesus’ names being Emmanuel, God with us, and encouraging them to think about God being with them this Christmas. We thank God for these small opportunities to sow seeds into so many peoples lives each week and we look forward to another year in 2014 where we can welcome our wider community into Fathers House and show them Gods loving kindness.
