Do you remember when you first became a Christian and the people that you had around you at that time who encouraged you, prayed with you and showed you the truth of Gods word?
Perhaps you had one particular friend who invested their time in teaching you the foundations of your new found faith or maybe you were in a church that offered a ‘discipleship course’……perhaps, for you, that decision has only just been made and you long to learn more.
Freedom in Christ is a discipleship course that we are really excited about bringing to Fathers House and our heart is to make it a regular part of church life here.
We are all encouraged as Christians to, firstly, be disciples but then also to “Go and make disciples of all nations…” (Matthew 28:19) To be a disciple is to be “a person who accepts and assists in the spreading of the good news of Jesus Christ” and discipleship is “the process by which disciples grow in the Lord Jesus Christ and are equipped by the Holy Spirit, who resides in our hearts, to overcome the pressures and trials of this present life and become more and more Christlike.”
Freedom in Christ is for every Christian, from those who have been Christians for a long time to those who have only just made that decision, from those who are progressing steadily to those who feel stuck. It is designed to help you:
- break through to a greater level of spiritual maturity
- uncover any areas of deception holding you back
- resolve personal and spiritual conflicts
- learn strategies to renew your mind and break free from negative thinking and unhelpful patterns of behaviour.
The course also leads very well into our ‘Encounter weekends’ and ‘Restoring the Foundations’ ministry, both of which are aimed at bringing new levels of freedom for believers.
Why not consider being part of our first ‘Freedom in Christ’ course which will be starting on Monday 3rd March here at Fathers House, Shaftesbury. Although the course is made up of 13 sessions we do recognise that many would find it difficult to commit to 13 consecutive Monday evenings and so we plan to divide the course into ‘blocks’. The first ‘block’ will consist of 5 sessions on each of the 5 Mondays in March. We will then take a break over Easter and resume with 2 more sessions on 12th and 19th May. The remainder of the course will be scheduled in later in the year.
If you would like to know more about Freedom in Christ or would like to book on to the course you can speak to Heather Ford or email email@example.com.
