InternshipsWritten by Andrew White

Here is a summary of the plans for our internship programme. Please think and pray, pass it on to anyone you think might be interested. We also are looking for people who would be willing to host….

For over 40 years the Church now known as Father’s House has been at the forefront of renewal and revival in the UK. Many have been nurtured and sent out into ministry around the World from here. We are very excited to introduce our new internship programme giving even more young people a chance to be trained, healed and inspired by the love of God.

We are looking for enthusiastic, mature, passionate, hardworking people who love Jesus and want to serve Him and the community of Shaftesbury. The programme lasts one year with the possibility of being invited back for a second year. Spaces are strictly limited; if you are interested please contact us with a brief personal statement and why you would like to attend and we can send an application form.

As an intern, you will have opportunities to get involved in all sorts of ministry, to live in and serve our local community at the same time developing your walk with God, going deeper and discovering Him more and more as your Heavenly Father.

Some areas you will be involved with are;

Worship, since its inception the Church here has been renowned for beautiful worship. Whether you play an instrument or not you will spend time in our sanctuary in worship and prayer as well as your own regular discipline of worship and devotion to Him.

Children’s ministries, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved in working with Children and young people, Sunday School, Little Monkeys, Holiday Clubs (VBS), Children’s Camp and of course our Youth Group.

Bible Study, each week you will have a morning of teaching as part of a programme of foundational teaching over the whole year. There is also a weekly Church Bible study which you will attend. You will also be exposed to all the visiting minsters that pass through.

Our training Schools; Wings of Eagles You will be expected to start the year by attending the three-week school at Lox Lane encounter centre. This time will prime you for ministry and familiarise you with some of our core values and start the process of healing your heart.

Pastoral care, getting alongside our pastoral staff visiting and caring for people as well as learning to minister at Encounter Weekends and ministry Schools.

Evangelism, we would expect an outward looking approach and a readiness to share your faith in whatever you are doing and in addition there will be street ministry.

Practical help through Open House Open House reaches out to those in need in our community you will get involved helping to deliver furniture and food parcels and any other practical help needed.

The programme will be slightly different for each individual however a strong work ethic and willingness to serve during busy and not so busy time are essential. There will be a regular schedule worked out with your coordinator to follow which will include personal study and devotion as well as with fellow interns.

Your accommodation will be in a “home stay”. Typically, you will have two meals each day with your hosts and lunch out and about. Getting to know your hosts and serving them is key to the programme and your personal development.
During the year, you will have the opportunity of going on a short-term mission trip where possible to one of our partner Churches in India, Ghana or Venezuela. This will be a great chance to love, serve and get to know how to minister in other cultures.

There is no charge for the programme but there are costs involved in living for a year. A typical budget might break down as follows.

Around £50.00 per week pocket money, for clothes, food out and about, giving away and saving.

£50.00 per week contribution to your host family for your living expenses.

£1000.00 for Soul survivor and Mission trip costs.
